Artist Statement, 2002

These paintings and prints are about desire--A wish for something to have, to be a part of, to be allowed into something that seems, or is, much above yourself-- and the various situational points of viewing the impact desire leaves on you. These images often become places, a landscape for these tangible representation of tacit forces. -- Is the environment something possible, like chocolate, or does it thwart your involvement, like history? or is it visceral, like faith? The mind is caught in an internalized celestial event-- these moments, surround and fill us. An electric sensation strikes the nerve of desire. It is in these moments between static and fog where we walk in these landscapes.
Art has become a method for me to hold, touch and share evidence of constant reminders of human elements which are tuned out, to avoid reeling into that which you may never feel able to possess

I Was Reading a Scientific Article

They have photographed the brain
and there is the picture, it is full of
branches as I always suspected,

each time you arrive the electricity
of seeing you is a huge
tree lumbering through my skull, the roots waving.

It is an Earth, its fibres wrap
things buried, your forgotten words
are graved in my head, an intricate

red blue and pink prehensile chemistry
veined like a leaf
network, or is it a seascape
with corals and shining tentacles

I touch you, I am created in you
somewhere as a complex
filament of light
